Scrappy Rainbow Tee

My second project of NSS

I'm such a great procrastinator. I have five gifts to make by next weekend, but I couldn't get the idea of this tee out of my head!

And I love how it turned out! Oh I should probably mention, she's pretty into doing her own hair at the moment :)

I free-handed a rainbow and drew lines to make seven strips for each colour (ROJGBIV). Then I cut each line out, making sure I labelled them each first.

Then I cut out strips of corresponding coloured fabric scraps and pinned them on a plain tee Izzy had (I did cheat a little and use pink flowery instead of indigo, but the rest are pretty much spot on). I slid a book between the layers of the tee to make sure I didn't pin through both layers.

Then when they're all pinned on choose a matching thread and sew them on. I used the same colour as the tee and a zig zag stitch.

I finished it early Saturday morning, popped it on Izzy and we headed over to a car boot sale. She found the Disney Princess Vtech laptop for £1 and it looks like new! Plus it's touch screen! You can see how thrilled she was!

And just so you don't think I'm cheating on my no spend summer, the car boot was an activity we'd had planned and budgeted for a while. I actually ended up just spending £5.50 and still managed to score the laptop, a daddy pig toy, bob the builder digger, 12 tiles (that you know I'm gonna use for some more coasters!), some clip on earrings for Izzy (don't worry I always anti bac spray everything!) and two chunky wooden frames. One of which is already drying after a coat of paint!

Not bad I'd say! Even the hubs was impressed :) always a good sign!

I'll leave you with a few of Izzy's poser shots!

I really love this girl!

<(found some great summer tees at Delia's that gave me the push for this one!)

  5. I'm totally making one for myself. I wonder if I can make one for Jack? Maybe in shades of blue with a black cloud and a LIGHTNING BOLT. Boom. Masculine.

And Izzy is such a supermodel. Upper & Lower R photos are my fave!

  9. That shirt is awesome! I love the idea of just sewing the colors on and leaving the fabric edges raw. It is so fun looking! Thanks so much for linking this up to The Fun In Functional!
