Fabric Letter

Get your supplies together (and a bossy assistant!). Hot glue, fabric, letter and scissors. 

Measure how much fabric you need by wrapping it around and just leaving a slight overhang, then trim. 

Then just glue in place cutting in on the corners. Depending on the letter you may have to cut a strip for one of the sides.

And then where mine was a little imperfect I added some rolled flowers (tutorial to come soon).

(She was bored of photos by this point and was disappointed she couldn't use my glue gun.)

Home made body scrub

Just a quickie. Some body scrub made with:


1 cup soft brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
approx. 1 cup oil (I used ground nut as it's what they had in the supermarket)
some oils or other scent (I used cinnamon)


Directions


1. Mix together and put in jar. 

(See told you it was quick!)

(I also gave her a pack of handmade cards.)

I gave it to my mum for her birthday and this made quite a big quantity, could probably get two or three batches if you had smaller jars or containers.

There are much better ways of making the label waterproof but I went with what I had, which was sellotape. 


I of course tried it out myself to see if I needed any more sugar/oil and it works great, my hands were lovely and soft after. 

A spray paint addictions only bad if you sniff it and don't use it, right?

Because I seriously want to spray paint everything in sight (turquoise T.V. anyone?).

I got too excited at the spraying stage to take any 'before' photos so you'll have to use your imagination.


The bedside tables were finished like this before:

Quite beaten up on top, but sturdy wood and I liked the style. Just didn't match our new bed too.


And after sanding, spraying, sanding, spraying and a coat of varnish (which unfortunately doesn't come in spray form as far as I know), and now I have these:

Yes that is some lovely wood chip wallpaper you can see there, the owners loved it so much they even put it on the ceiling. Some nights I can't sleep because of it. *shudder*

They go much better with my our new bed. And it wasn't an indulgence, our old one was literally held together with electrical tape, and the week before this one was squeezed into our boot (and nearly through the windscreen) it had one corner resting on the floor and not on the bed leg.

So pretty. (I did make the bed all pretty for the photo, but then the kids were jumping on the bed and took the runner to use as a slide, this was taken between bouncing sessions.)


Up next the drawers. And some frames, and Izzy's toy box, and the rocking horse...and I have a wicker basket or two that want to be white...


Also if anyone has ideas about what I should do with the knobs please let me know. I'm not sure if it's boring to keep them black. I kind of like it, plus we're thinking of moving to another rented house soon so simple items would make it easier to tie in with whatever decor is already there...but I kind of like the thought of purple knobs! Maybe glass? But my husband isn't sold. Any ideas?

Just because

Because sometimes she is so cute,

and wants to be like me,

and acts a little like a teenager, 

but in a cute way, because she can't reach the handle to slam the doors,

and because she loves the little things, like ladybirds and post its and Ethan,

and because when I was struggling with a poorly, whiny Ethan and had to answer the phone she rubbed his back, wiped his nose and distracted him with his blocks,

because she is my wonderful, funny, kind and nurturing daughter that I get to bring up, 

a difficult few days haven't been that bad at all.
